Building Skills and Creating Opportunities
Jape Group is committed to supporting the next generation of professionals through practical internship and work placement opportunities across areas including IT, Accounting, Administration, Human Resources, Marketing and Operations.
Working with Charles Darwin University and other training organisations, Jape provides students with valuable hands on workplace experience, helping them build practical skills, industry knowledge and confidence as they prepare for their careers.
Since 2018, Jape Group has welcomed more than 20 internship and work placement participants from a range of education and training organisations, including international students completing placements with Jape Furnishing Superstore.
Jape Furnishing Superstore Community Support
Jape Furnishing Superstore is committed to supporting the Northern Territory community through long-standing relationships with local charities and community organisations, including Dawn House, Mission Australia and Anglicare.
Established in Darwin in 1976, Dawn House provides specialist support for women and children escaping domestic, family and sexual violence. Its services include crisis accommodation, counselling, outreach, advocacy and community education, helping women and families find safety and rebuild their lives.
Through its furniture redirection program, Jape Furnishing Superstore provides quality furniture to Dawn House and other Territorians and families in need. The initiative delivers practical support to vulnerable members of the community while extending the useful life of furniture and reducing unnecessary waste.
Supporting Healthcare Across Timor-Leste
Jape Group is proud to continue its longstanding support of Ordem de Malta Timor-Leste and the Jape A Lem Memorial Clinic in Dili which provides free primary healthcare to vulnerable communities across the country.
During the first six months of 2026 the clinic and its mobile outreach program delivered 8,364 patient consultations across Dili, Liquiçá and Alas. This brought the total number of consultations provided since the clinic opened in 2017 to 104,874, marking the significant milestone of more than 100,000 patient consultations.
The mobile clinic network has also expanded to 12 locations, helping bring healthcare directly to remote and underserved communities. Continued investment in new ambulances, expanded outreach and Starlink enabled telemedicine will further strengthen the ability of medical teams to reach patients who may otherwise have limited access to healthcare.
Through Dili Development Company, the main clinic premises have been provided rent free since 2017. This ongoing partnership supports Ordem de Malta in delivering essential healthcare services and creating a lasting positive impact for families and communities throughout Timor-Leste.
Hera Agricultural Training Centre
Growing skills. Building livelihoods. Creating lasting opportunity.
At Raihun, the Hera Agricultural Training Centre demonstrates Jape Group’s commitment to creating opportunity beyond property. Developed through DDC’s partnership with TOMAK and strengthened by the Jape Kong Su Empowerment Initiative, the centre provides practical climate smart agriculture training designed to build skills, self sufficiency and sustainable livelihoods.
Across 2024 and 2025, 20 training programs reached more than 300 trainees, including 82 participants in agribusiness training for youth and women, 23 agriculture extension workers, 19 youth trainees and 15 people with disabilities. Training covers modern farming, irrigation, composting, biochar, hydroponics, livestock management and horticulture.
Learning is backed by a working agricultural facility. Hera maintains nearly 10,000 plants, has produced 22.6 tonnes of biochar and compost and has raised 75 local chickens. Fresh organic produce grown at Hera also supplies Timor Plaza Hotel.
By combining education, enterprise and practical farming, Hera is helping people develop skills they can use, share and build on for generations.
